Living a Low Tox Life with the Thieves Product Line

In today’s world, we are constantly exposed to a wide range of toxins and chemicals. Many of these toxins are not immediately visible, making it difficult for consumers to identify and avoid them. For example, many personal care products contain phthalates, which are linked to hormone disruption and reproductive issues. Similarly, some household cleaners contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can cause headaches, dizziness, and respiratory problems. Most chemicals have never been tested for safety. In fact, manufacturers of most conventional cleaning products do not have to disclose all the ingredients on their labels. These hidden dangers of toxins in consumer products highlight the importance of being aware of the ingredients in the products we use and making informed choices about the products we purchase.

We have included a conversational style video within this article below, continue to read below or watch the video here:

One of the most concerning aspects of toxins is their ability to bioaccumulate. This means that once we are exposed to a toxic substance, it may not be immediately eliminated from our bodies but instead can be stored in our fatty tissues or organs such as the liver or kidneys. So, even if many are deemed safe in small quantities, the chemicals build up over time as new exposure occurs. This accumulation can have serious consequences, as high concentrations of toxins in the body can lead to a range of health issues, including asthma, allergies, compromised microbiome, fertility issues, and increased risk of cancer, neurological disorders and immune system dysfunction.

Chemicals are found in measurable amounts in the human body just 26 seconds after exposure.
A research poll by a cosmetic company showed that women in the UK are exposed to 515 toxic and harsh chemicals every day. This is only the basics, like shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, lotion, cream, cologne or perfume and cosmetics. Most of these are applied before breakfast! Those numbers don’t even include all the toxins and endocrine disrupting chemicals used in common household products, like air fresheners (plug in and candles), laundry detergents, dryer sheets, soaps, chemical cleaning supplies for counters, floors, toilets, drain and oven cleaners, and dish soap. These products contain the top 10 most dangerous chemicals in the home.
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the United States, a study of 2,983 ingredients in household products revealed the presence of 884 toxic substances. Shockingly, 314 of these ingredients caused biological mutations, 218 caused reproductive problems, and 146 were known to cause cancerous tumors.

With this awareness, many people are now turning to low tox living, which involves reducing exposure to harmful chemicals and prioritizing natural, sustainable products.

Take action to safeguard your family’s well-being by learning how to read labels and identifying the “top toxic ingredients” in personal care and household products. Do a search online and be vigilant about where these substances can be found.

Take further action by starting with the biggest culprits in your home. Begin by replacing laundry soap, dishwasher soap, cleaning supplies, candles, and plug-ins with safer alternatives.

Candles, in particular, contain dangerous petrochemicals and can be detrimental to your health. Environmental toxicology expert Dr. Andrew Sled warns that burning a candle for two hours in your home is akin to smoking a pack of cigarettes! Moreover, 40 percent of candles contain lead in their wicks, which is hazardous to breathe in.

It is encouraging that more and more people are becoming aware of the risks of toxins that they use daily. People want to use “green” cleaners. The personal care and household cleaning product industries have caught on to this and responded with product lines that claim they are natural. They’re labeled “green” and “all natural” for marketing reasons and they charge more! But most of the time they contain the same harmful chemicals. This is called “greenwashing”. Well known companies have been exposed and accused of falsely advertising their products as natural or safe, when they actually contain synthetic chemicals that are harmful to the human body and to the environment. It’s estimated that 95% of products are guilty of this practice.

If you’re looking to make the switch to low tox living, Young Living’s Thieves product line is a great place to start. Young Living is committed to transparency, and their Thieves product line is made with a powerful blend of essential oils and natural ingredients, which can help to support overall health, boost the immune system, and promote a cleaner, safer home environment. These products are so versatile and effective. Additionally, Young Living is committed to sustainability and ethical sourcing practices, which means that you can feel confident using Thieves products in your home, knowing that they are safe and good not only for you, but also good for the planet.

The Thieves product line includes a range of items for personal care, home cleaning, and even oral health. Some of the most popular products include the Thieves Essential Oil Blend, Thieves All-Purpose Household Cleaner, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Fruit & Veggie Wash, and the Foaming Hand Soap to name but a few.

The story behind Young Living’s Thieves essential oil blend goes back to the 15th century, during the time of the infamous bubonic plague. According to legend, a group of thieves were able to successfully rob the homes of those who had succumbed to the plague, without themselves becoming infected. When the thieves were eventually caught, they were offered a deal: reveal the secret to their immunity, and their punishment would be less severe.

The thieves revealed that they had used a special blend of botanicals and spices, including clove, lemon, cinnamon, and rosemary, which they applied to their skin, clothes, and masks. These botanicals and spices were known for their anti-pathogenic properties, and they helped to protect the thieves from the plague.

The recipe was noted in a number of famous medical books published later on, including the Pharmacologia from 1825.

Fast forward to modern times, Young Living founder D. Gary Young discovered this legend during his travels in Europe. He is responsible for the story reaching the legendary status it has today. He created the Thieves blend in 1994 for immune support, as the result of his study at Warwick University in London.

Gary said, quote “I must tell you that I have read 17 different versions of the Thieves story. Some claim there were four thieves and some claim there were as many as 40. Most of the legends took place in the 15th century, but some put the date in the 18th century. The formulas varied from one story to the next, but through my research, I was led to four key botanicals that were mentioned again and again– Clove, Cinnamon, Rosemary, and Lemon– four of the same ingredients that make up the Thieves oil blend today.”

Today, the Thieves blend has become one of Young Living’s most popular products, and it is used by people all over the world to support their immune systems, and create a clean, toxin-free home environment.

Since the creation of the Thieves essential oil blend by Young Living, there have been many other competing brands that have created similar blends based on the same concept of using botanicals and spices for their antibacterial and antiviral properties. While these blends may have similar ingredients and benefits, it’s important to note that the quality and purity of essential oils can vary greatly from brand to brand, so it’s essential to do your research and ask the right questions.

Transitioning to a low tox home can seem daunting, but with the Young Living Thieves product line, it’s easier than you think! It’s not about spending more money, it’s about spending better. Every swap you make, big or small, is a positive step towards a healthier life. So go ahead, pat yourself on the back for the progress you’ve made so far. Remember, these are not even swaps, they’re upgrades! Investing in high-quality products may cost more upfront, but you’ll soon realise how much cheaper they are in the long run.
